An Enchanting Journey through Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro

Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimpu – Where the Adventure Begins

Your journey through the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan commences with your arrival at Paro Airport, situated at an elevation of 2200 meters. As you complete immigration formalities and collect your baggage, our warm-hearted representative welcomes you.

The adventure unfolds as you embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the charming capital city of Bhutan. Enroute, pause at Chuzom, the confluence of the Thimphu and Paro rivers. Witness three distinct styles of stupas here – Tibetan,

Nepalese, and Bhutanese – harmoniously coexist at this confluence. Upon reaching Thimphu, check in to your hotel and relax. In the evening, take an exploratory walk along Thimphu, Main Street and market area, immersing yourself in the local culture and traditions.

Day 2: Thimphu – A Day Filled with Culture and Spirituality

Your day begins with a visit to a handmade paper mill and the School of Arts and Crafts, where students master 13 different arts traditionally practiced in Bhutan. Immerse yourself in this vibrant culture and, if your visit aligns with the right days, you can experience the traditional sport of archery at the Simply Bhutan museum. In the afternoon, explore the Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Continue to the Buddha viewpoint, offering panoramic vistas of the capital city. Other highlights of your day include visits to Changangkha Lhakhang, Zilukha Nunnery, and the Takin enclosure. As evening descends, take in the charming allure of Thimphu before returning to your hotel for dinner and a restful night’s sleep.

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha – An Enchanting Drive through Dochula Pass

Prepare for an extraordinary day as you journey through Dochula Pass, situated at a breathtaking 3100 meters above sea level. Here, you encounter the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens, constructed in honor of Bhutan’s victory over Indian militants in
2003. Weather permitting, you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Bhutan’s highest mountains, stretching across a 180-degree panorama. This enchanting landscape makes Dochula Pass one of the country’s most picturesque locations.
Continuing on, you’ll descend to the warm and fertile Punakha Valley. Your first stop is the remarkable Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece and a place of profound spiritual significance. This Dzong houses one of Bhutan’s most exquisite
temples, featuring ornate artwork and craftsmanship. In the afternoon, embark on an excursion to Chimi Lhakhang, known as the temple of fertility. A leisurely walk through the surrounding village provides insights into the daily lives of its residents. The temple and its surrounding areas are filled with cultural and spiritual significance.

Day 4: Punakha to Paro – A Return to Bhuta’s Cultural Heart

Today’s journey takes you back to Paro, guiding you down from the heights of Dochula Pass. Along the way, you’ll visit Simtokha Dzong, a place of profound tantric teachings and home to a school for the study of the Dzongkha language. Upon your return to Paro, you’ll explore Ta Dzong, originally a watchtower and now housing Bhutan’s National Museum. The museum boasts an extensive collection of art, artefacts, and historic relics, providing a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. You’ll also have the chance to stroll to Rinpung Dzong, known as the fortress of the heap of jewels. The intricate woodwork, ornate wall paintings, and
sacred artefacts within the Dzong are awe-inspiring.

Day 5: Paro – Trek to Taktshang Monastery and Exploration
Embark on a memorable morning hike to Taktshang Monastery, often referred to as the Tiger’s Nest.This iconic site perches on the edge of a cliff, 900 meters above the Paro valley. The trek, lasting around 5 hours, takes you through dense forests and steep trails, making it a rewarding and invigorating experience. The legend surrounding Taktshang Monastery involves Guru Rinpoche, who is said to have arrived here on the back of a tigress. The monastery has been a sacred site for meditation and spiritual practice for centuries. As you reach the vantage point, you’ll be in awe of the astounding views and the spiritual ambience of this revered place.
In the afternoon, your journey continues to Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that has stood as a symbol of Bhutan’s resilience. As you approach the Dzong, the majestic Chomolhari Mountain, known as the mountain of the goddess,& graces your view.
Before returning to your hotel, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. This temple marks the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan. 

Day 6: Departure from Paro – Farewell to the Kingdom of Bhutan
After an early breakfast at your hotel, our team will ensure a smooth transfer to Paro Airport. As you prepare to embark on your onward journey, our representative will assist you with exit formalities.
