Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – A Prelude to Natural Wonders
Your adventure begins as you land in Guwahati. You’re immediately welcomed to the gateway of Northeast India. Your journey takes you to the picturesque hill station of Shillong. Along the way, you encounter the mesmerizing Umiam Lake or Barapani, a man-made lake nestled amidst lush hills. If time allows, a visit to the Cathedral of Marry and Ward’s Lake promises to be a serene introduction to the region. Your evening is at leisure, offering you a chance to explore Shillong, including the bustling Police Bazaar for some souvenir shopping.
Day 2: Shillong to Cherrapunjee – Where the Skies Weep
you’re in for a day of natural wonders. After breakfast, you embark on a journey to Cherrapunjee, known as the wettest place on Earth. Along the way, you visit the Elephant Falls and witness the breathtaking views from Duwan Sing Syiem’s viewpoint. In Cherrapunjee, marvel at the Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) Falls and the Nohkalikai Falls. Take a gentle cave walk inside the Mawsmai Cave, a natural marvel filled with fascinating formations. Day 3: Shillong to Mwallynong – A Glimpse of Nature’s Purity
Your day starts with a journey to Mwallynong, also known as God’s own Garden and recognized as the cleanest village in Asia. The village boasts over 80 well-maintained households, offering a unique experience akin to walking through a pristine park. A trek to Rewai Village reveals the natural wonder of living-root bridges. These bridges, woven from massive thick roots, strengthen and grow over time. Some have a useful lifespan of up to 600 years! Continue your journey to Dawki, a fishing village that’s home to the stunning Umngot River. Enjoy a captivating country boat river ride and visit the Bangladesh border. Day 4: Shillong to Kaziranga – A Journey to the Wild
Today, you head to the renowned Kaziranga National Park, a World Heritage site known for its rich biodiversity. Your journey brings you in contact with the natural world’s wonders, as you immerse yourself in the lush landscapes and vibrant ecosystems that make Kaziranga special. Check in at your hotel, relax, and prepare for your safari adventure.
Day 5: Exploring the Wilderness of Kaziranga
A thrilling jeep safari awaits you, where you’ll have the opportunity to witness the incredible variety of flora and fauna that calls the park home. Additionally, you’ll visit local villages and tea gardens, gaining insights into the region’s culture and industry. Day 6: Kaziranga to Guwahati – A River of Dreams
Your journey takes you back to Guwahati, the commercial capital of the Northeast. Guwahati is known as the “light of the East” and it’s situated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a serene river cruise on the Brahmaputra, where the tranquil waters reflect the enchanting surroundings. Spend the night in Guwahati,
preparing for your final day.
Day 7: Departure from Guwahati – A Farewell to the Northeast
Your exploration through Assam and Meghalaya culminates with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple, a place of spiritual significance. Afterwards, you’ll head to Guwahati Airport/Station, marking the end of a journey that introduced you to the enchanting landscapes, cultural treasures, and natural wonders of this extraordinary region.
